Fall Hutch

Hey Ladies I have finished painting my hutch and have it dressed up for Fall. Join me for some pictures!! My mother in law left this hutch that she used to use for extra storage for dishes in the garage and since I have always wanted a hutch I decided to paint it and move it inside. I painted it dark kettle black by Valspar and distressed it. I did not prime it first because I wanted the other color to show through when I distressed it. I cannot decide if I want to put anything where the glass used to be on the hutch. I had thought about adding iron pieces, but I am kinda liking it without anything. What do you think?

I had a candle holder that I wasn't using, so I wove through a fall garland and just added pumpkins instead of candles. I bought these little animal print plates a few months back at Ross for 3.99.

Last year I made this acorn tassel for myself.

I added a fall platter that I got from Ross last year for 9.99, a Fall frame that I made, a grapevine pumpkin and a pumpkin napkin holder that I got the other day at Family Dollar for 2 bucks!

I added a fleur de lis plate and turkey that my mom gave me a few years ago that I just added a pumpkin and fall bead garland to.

While I was at Family Dollar the other day I got these plates for 1 dollar each. I think they would be cute as pie plates, but my husband says they are too small. What are your thoughts?

I also got these mugs for 1 dollar.

The two bottom photos are what the hutch used to look like before. It was really scratched up and one of the glass inserts was broken.

Well, that's it for today girls! I am off to go get some supplies to make tassels for my Etsy store! A lot of you have asked what the link is, I currently don't have anything listed in the store but I will in the next few days, so keep checking back!

Have a great day!

Allyson, Amazing transformation and how beautiful all the decor came out!!!Love your plates, pumpkins and way you arranged the shelves. The color is my favorite for furniture, it will blend into anything you have and buy in the future. Your tassel is gorgeous, thank you for sharing.

Fantastic job on the hutch, I love the black. I have bought 2 hutches off of Craig's List just because of Susan at BNOTP Blog and her green hutch on her porch. There are 2 others that I would have bought also but someone beat me too them. I am going to paint one, other one is homemade out of barn wood with open bottom shelf, I am going to make curtains to hang on tension rods to hide plastic storage bins on the bottom.

Hmmmmmmmm can one ever have enough hutches, LOL ??????

Allyson, I am loving all of this delicious color!! LOL!!! Your hutch looks wonderful!! I can't even pick a fave....I love ALL of your accessories! Everything works so well together. I like the doors without glass, even though I could see the iron there, as well. Either way, it's fabulous!

Oh Allyson, how I LOVE this!!!! I love that it is black, and it looks so great!! I have ben thinking about doing my cabinets like this. I have an armoire that I painted black, and I just tried distressing it this week. I have a hutch that is similar also but not distressed yet. Beautiful, and so refreshing to see black. Can you tell I love it??

Nice save there, Allyson. The hutch looks amazing, & I think your display shows up much better without any kind inserts.

I love how the hutch turned out. It looks great without the glass & I think it would look great with iron but it would probably take away from what you have on the shelves. I plan to paint an old, computer desk that the hubs bought well before we got married & I want to use black. I'll have to try the Valspar.
