From oak to black and a new blogger

Hey guys!! Sorry I haven't been posting much or visiting any of you. I am still unpacking and getting settled. This week I finished  painted a desk my in laws gave us. I almost forgot to take a before! Luckily I hadn't started painting the hutch part of the desk yet.

Here are some pictures of what it looked like before I painted it.

I decided to paint it black and I am happy with that choice. I might distress it soon and I need to get drawer pulls for the drawers. I primed it with Glidden gripper paint, I let that dry for a day and then painted it with black in a satin finish.

Here are some pictures of the decor. Most of the things I had already, the newest things are the metal rooster on top, book boxes, leopard jar and fleur de lis finial.

~New Blogger~

I wanted to introduce you all to my friend Sandra. I met her through the mykirklands.com website. She has recently started a blog called Decorating on a budget, go welcome her! She loves decorating like all of us, her home is SO gorgeous!! Here is a sneak peek of what you will see.

Well, that is it for today guys!
I hope you all have a fabulous father's day weekend!

Ally, I'm loving the new look of your desk! I'm now thinking my 2 bookcases need the same treatment. They are the same wood as your desk! Thanks for sharing your finished desk. It really is amazing.
